Order of Operations

Today we started on a new benchmark where we are required to use the order of operations to solve an expression. First, I had the students solve an expression with no help.....some were able to solve it and some weren't. But that was okay since they have never learned it! After that, I had some friends come up and share their work. One friend was able to solve it and explained the order of operations: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction. We are using the acronym: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally or we can call it PEMDAS.

Our chart we made :)
