These past few weeks in science have been awesome!! We have been taking a human body system and looking at the organs and how they function. We did this back in March, but now that testing is over, I decided to look at each system more closely. Today we made a model of the bone. They did so well. We looked at a picture of a bone that identified all of the parts and discussed them. I then handed out to them the procedures and they created an "edible" model of the bone. The supplies I used was tortilla shells, pull apart twizzlers, strawberry jam, graham crackers (lady fingers), and sugar wafers. (I would love to take credit for this lesson, but I found it somewhere else...http://science-mattersblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/body-systems-skeletal-system-edible.html). It was such an awesome lesson!! The kids really understood it and actually enjoyed eating their "bones"!!
